Steam Heat Transfer
Workers in the chemical and petrochemical industries are exposed to a wide range of uncontrollable safety hazards such as the sudden bursting of a pipe, releasing hot steam that can cause nasty burns. As a result of the close collaboration with end-users to provide the most effective safety solutions, technical experts on the DuPont Personal Protection team have developed a new test method to measure the resistance of fabrics made with NOMEX® to steam penetration.
The Steam Heat Transfer test, conducted at the European Technical Center , measures the time, in seconds, it takes for hot steam under pressure to penetrate a fabric and garment system and cause second-degree burns.
