About H1N1 (Swine) flu
The following document gives you background information on the virus Download 1. Transmission of the virus via :
liquid droplet transmission
to mouth
nose
or other ways of getting the infectious matter into lungs or pharynx 2. Ways for transmission :
inhalation of droplets by breathing via mouth or nose
leading infected hands/fingers into the mouth
getting infected matter into the mouth or into the nose 3. The protection needed is supposed to cover :
the spread of the virus
human-to-human infection
animal-to-human infection
beside all necessary means via hygiene control and management it is certainly needed at some exposures to use protective clothing - beside breathing protection and gloves
the protective clothing has the task to keep the infected matter away from the mouth and the nose of the wearer and the usage-habit (donning & doffing, workload etc.) should be in way that a respiratory-tract-infection is avoided.
4. How does protective clothing contribute to the wearer’s protection ?
The main part is the so-called cross-contamination protection
body and underwear do not get the infected matter on their surface from which it could be transmitted via hands to mouth and nose
5. Requirement for protective clothing :
made of fabric which is a barrier to the virus
design which avoids cross-contamination
has closures and seams which are tight during exposure and after exposure
is easy to use in the above-mentioned sense of protection
can be disposed of in bio-safe way
6. Which products from our portfolio support this protection level :
